Wireless VOIP Handsets
Internet telephony applications, which transmit voice calls between computers with a decent quality, require a set of speaker and a microphone as well as a satisfactory internet access speed and of course a computer to run the software. The challenge in Voice Over IP (VOIP) rush leads us to different approaches. We can either use popular headsets that lets talk with others hands free or use our laptop's own sound system. But the comfort zone, which refers to the maximum available distance from your laptop or desktop, forces users to stay still right in front of the computer. But wireless VOIP handsets are far better solution for breaking the ropes that ties us to computers.

With the introduction of VOIP handsets, internet voice calls have jumped to a totally different stage, letting us leave our old school habits. Simply by integrating a speaker and a microphone set to a handset device and adding relevant circuits like number pad, screen and call buttons with handy design is nothing but a technological miracle for talking to others at a distance. Handsets let us make voice calls without touching the computer keyboard and even provides a broader comfort zone, let's say more than 100 feet for specific brands/models, if a wireless VOIP handset is used. If wired handsets are to be used, they still need you in the vicinity of your desk.

Wireless VOIP handsets may or may not be connected to a computer. The ones with a standalone base station connected directly to a router that has internet access, provide a computer free usage. These sets carry a tiny operating system inside the base station and include one of the favorite VOIP applications (Skype for instance). On the handset site, basic cell phone features are all ready to make life easier (and cheaper of course). Phonebook, call history, caller id etc; all resides in the palm of your hands.

Handsets are also user friendly in terms of privacy. You don't need to worry about wearing your headset and let your voice be heard by others. And the type of usage is nothing different than using your ordinary phone, unless you configure the settings once and forget.

Among popular wireless VOIP handsets, such as Cisco's Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G and 7925G models bring out simple and effective way of communicating with their unmatched sound quality and either wifi or Bluetooth (only for 7925G) connectivity options. While Polycom's SoundPoint IP 670 model features HD sound quality and call recording. For a much affordable point of view, Philips VOIP 321 Skype Dual Phone lets you make calls both online and via standard phone lines acting as a hybrid handset. Also there exist much cheaper so called Skype handsets (thanks to this most popular software which has given its name to various handsets), with USB cords but may lack sound quality.
